Given that, my goal is to promote psychological well-being and personal growth for individuals, respecting their narratives. For this purpose, the psychotherapeutic process is gradual and tailored to each individual and provides a safe space to explore internal functioning.

Psychological therapy is designed to assist you in comprehending your issues and yourself in a better way. As you gain insight, adopt new skills, and develop new ways of relating, you will gradually become your psychologist. The ultimate goal of psychological therapy is for you to feel liberated and empowered as you embark on your psychological journey.

I aim to promote individuals’ psychological well-being and personal growth, respecting their narratives. The psychotherapeutic process is gradual and tailored to each individual. The psychotherapeutic process provides a safe space to explore internal functioning.

Besides, my research explores the socio-political dimension of well-being, reflecting on how systemic issues such as structural racial oppression, the post-colonial context and patriarchy impact well-being and how we can integrate these reflections into clinical practice for that reason.

Why seek help?

The reasons for seeking help are varied and individual, whether it’s to deal with personal changes/questions, to feel the need to talk, to feel a deeper suffering (depression, anxiety, sadness), to deal with a traumatic event (sexual abuse, violence against women…) or to deal with family and/or relationship difficulties (family dynamics, couples), the process is not always easy for everyone.

It’s a decision that often scares us. The fear of revealing ourselves, of sharing our intimacy with a stranger. We may feel shame or fear being perceived as “abnormal” or “crazy”.

It’s not always possible to draw on the resources within ourselves or those around us to cope with our suffering and difficulties.

This is where the psychologist’s attentive listening comes in. These elements can help us to understand and overcome our suffering and difficulties. The psychologist can help us take a fresh look at our situation, enabling us to deal with it more positively and serenely.

As a psychologist, I’m here to listen to my clients’ difficulties, whatever their nature.

Having lived abroad for more than 7 years made me realise how my own individual identity sits combining my culture and my identity of immigrant, which ultimately changed me to be who I am personally and professionally. As a result of my own experiences I am naturally interested in how culture, personality and identity shapes us as individuals, but I am particularly interested in how these concepts might coincide with the challenges of being a woman and/or mother.

Research

I believe that the role of psychologists is inherently political. My personal research explores the socio-political dimension of well-being, reflecting on how systemic issues such as structural racial oppression, the post-colonial context and patriarchy impact well-being and how we can integrate these reflections into clinical practice. I believe we need to think about mental health through a systemic lens; that means acknowledging the impact that systems of oppression (such as patriarchy, racism and ableism) have upon people’s mental health.

I have a keen interest in exploring the intersections of gender, violence, and mental health. This includes but is not limited to topics like domestic violence, sexual violence, sexual health, perinatal mental health, and birth trauma. Additionally, I am also interested in understanding how systems of oppression, such as patriarchy, systemic racism, and anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, impact mental health.
